Hello and happy Friday! We spent our afternoon picking pumpkins. We rode on (sat on) the tractors, picked out many many pumpkins and then loaded us up! Pumpkin picking day is one of my most favorite days of the year. And the beautiful autumns of the midwest are an absolute bonus and delight.
But what on earth, you are wondering does christmas have to do with pumpkin picking? nothing really. just couldn't help but declare my love for all things pumpkin. and now, we turn to our christmas treat!
Sometimes I like to have a few handmade gifts on hand for those people that I love. I have found that if they aren't at least planned by November, they simply do not happen in the rush of christmas prep. Once that tree is up, well, all things crafty seem to get bumped.
With 68 days remaining until Christmas, we are sooooooo on the ball.
This is what you will need.
a can, 2 pieces of patterned paper, 2 pieces of cardstock, a winter-y stamp, an ink pad, 2 eyelets, a hole punch, a circle punch, and a piece of wire.
First, remove the label off the can.
Now you need to cut your papers. The main patterned paper is 4 inches x 9.5 inches.
The second patterned paper is 1.25 inches x 9.5 inches.
Trim your colored cardstock to 1.5 x 9.5 inches. (the picture is deceiving - it's not that wide!)
Punch a circle out of the white or cream cardstock. Mine circle is 1.5 inches wide.
Now, ink the edges of the narrow patterned paper.
Now you need to adhere the papers. I use a spray adhesive for the first pattern, and a tape runner for the others.
Be sure to press it all around.
Add the cardstock strip. place the middle of the cardstock over the seam in the patterned paper. This will put in in the middle of the front.
Then add the second patterned paper strip. Again, place the center on the seam of the patterned paper.
Stamp a winter stamp on your circle and ink the edges.
Adhere the circle over the seams on the stripped paper.
Now, use your cropadile to punch holes in the sides of the can, just below the lip. Then place and set the eyelets in the holes.
Now, wind the wire through one side and curl it round and out the other side. Loopdeeloos are fun to add!
Tada! you are done!
Now make lots and fill them with candycanes, treats, cookies, whatever you would like!
One done, 657 christmas projects to go!
Enjoy your weekend!
