Here we go!
cover The lovely cover layout is by Shelley Laming, and we've
had a couple of readers write in to ask what font she used for her
journaling. It's not a font; that's her handwriting!
pg.11 Lin brought in a pile of her actual journals to prop this
page with, thinking they'd all be shot closed. Well, one of them was
photographed open, so Lin had a moment of panic, wondering exactly what
she'd written on that page. To ease her mind, Marin blurred the copy a
bit in Photoshop so no one would be tempted to read Lin's innermost
thoughts.
pg.12 John Wiegand's letter about his wife Diana was so
incredible. We've already received several letters from readers about
this letter. Cathy Zielske also received a note and a picture from
Diana's best friend. This is Diana:

pg.18
Did you find it? Here's the only clue I'll give you: it's not as hard
to find as it was last year. (We in editor land don't always have full
control over where the ads are mapped into the magazine, or we would
have made it much harder to spot.)
pg.20 Did you see that coupon? 20% off your ENTIRE purchase! I'd stock up on trimmer blades and adhesives if I were you.
pg.23 Cute Maddie! This layout is propped with her actual hat; she even loaned us her horse costume, but it didn't make the cut.
pg.25 Yep, that's the actual "Shake Your Groove Thang" (by
Peaches & Herb) record propping the layout. Bought it on eBay for
$6.99.
pg.32 This is my favorite column we have ever published in the
history of this magazine! In fact it's so amazing that it deserves its
own post. Check back Monday for the full "Fabulous Finds" report.
pg.35 Rachel's hands. Elisha's layout.
pg.39 LOVE this feature! The magnets on page 45 are hanging on
my fridge, as we speak. They're currently arranged to spell "We Love
Ruby," which accidentally got squished into something that resembled
"loveruby," which my friend Colleen then morphed into "loverboy."
Fridge magnets are so fun.
pg.52 My favorite part of "Focus on Photos" this issue is this
picture of Carson, concentrating on his snack, with his little feet
crossed under the table.
pg.59 I also once had big hair and big dreams. But I wasn't nearly that cute.
pg.63 That is my actual teacup, inherited from my Grandma Hill. Man, I love this layout! Those Dillows are funny people.
pg.68 Rachel achieved that amazing type treatment in Microsoft Word. No kidding. You must read it.
pg.69 Funny story: I set out to create a single layout about our
visits to see my dad, who was working solo in Twin Falls, Idaho, for
almost two years (about a 3.5 hour drive from home). I kept sorting
through all my pictures, trying to find a way to cram them all onto one
layout. Duh. Eventually I realized I could just expand the story into
three consecutive spreads. Here are the other two:

Here
they are, sans journaling. I took these pictures before I was finished,
so our offsite writer (Lain) could tell me which one she wanted for the
article. Check out the top layout...there's a pocket on the left side
that holds all the postcards my dad sent us from Idaho. True to form,
they were mostly addressed to my husband, with a little "Hi Ang! Love
ya!" written as an afterthought in a spare corner. My husband and
father are pretty impressed with one another, which makes me very happy!
