Ever wonder if anyone really wins the Sweepstakes we announce in each and every issue? If it's just some elaborate hoax perpetrated against innocent Simple Scrapbooks readers? And no one really wins, the Simple team just hauls all the prizes into the office to use for our own nefarious ends? Well, wonder no longer, because I am here to offer proof. We do award winners—it just happens months and months after it is initially announced in the magazine, so it seems like "old news" by then. And there are already three exciting NEW contests to think about, so who wants to talk about those "old" sweepstakeseses? (What is the plural of Sweepstakes anyway?)
But while some of us (me) must always move on to the next issue, others of us (Carolyn Jolley) handle the details of our Sweepstakes and make sure winners are chosen, winners are notified, and prizes are distributed. Because it's certainly NOT old news to the excited scrapbookers who have amazing prizes showing up on their doorsteps. (And ya'll have Carolyn to thank for it.)
I just have to share one of the prizes from our March/April 2008 sweepstakes, donated by Creative Options:
The winners were: Andi Arce, Jenny Julander, and Barry Hayes. Here's what cute Jenny wrote in to tell us after receiving hers:
"YIPEE!!!! Its an early Christmas. The UPS man delivered these just before lunch. They are so nice.....THANKS SO MUCH!"
I know what you're thinking. March/April was FOREVER ago. It doesn't usually take THAT long, I promise. To prove it, let me announce the winners of our Sep/Oct sweepstakes, 10 super sleuths who spotted our FAKE AD and wrote in to tell us where it was:
Aimee Johnson of Santa Barbara, CA
Denise Berrington of St. Michael, MN
Feather Stolzenbach of Owings Mills, MD
Julee Slater of Herington, KS
Kayleen Oppegard of Golden Valley, MN
Leslie Delaney of Lexington, SC
Misty McCawley of Columbus, IN
Rhonda Reynolds of Pooler, GA
Sheila Fountain of Portland, CT
Tricia Simon of Washington, OH
See, people really do win! We couldn't make up ALL these names. And no way have we ever heard of Pooler, Georgia, before now.
So that should be motivation enough. Head over to our website and enter our two current sweepstakes (The Ultimate Die-Cutting Giveaway and the Personal Training Sweepstakes), and keep an eye out for more!
Happy Weekend-before-the-Holidays!
