As promised. Let's begin.
cover Adorable layout by Karen Glenn; photo by Rebecca Cooper.
(Coincidentally, we had a couple photo on last year's Jan/Feb cover,
and that photo was also by Rebecca Cooper.)
I came up with the little line of journaling, and Cathy Zielske dropped
it in on the cover file digitally, in a handwriting font. Group effort.
pg.9 One of these ladies wasn't in the original photo; she was
photoshopped in later. Can you guess who? If this photo looks familiar,
that's because we also used it on our Christmas card. (And yes, I
really do eat cottage cheese with potato chips. Jennafer my boss texted
me on a Sunday to notify me of the first time she tried it herself.
You'll like it!)
pg.13 That's Stacy's actual planner. We had to photograph it
while she was in town for one day for meetings about her upcoming book.
Look close and you can read, "I love my children, but I need them to go
back to school!" Who hasn't felt that way before?
pg.19 My handwriting. Marin's design. GREAT prizes. (p.s. it was Marin who was photoshopped into the picture on page 11.)
pg.15 Elisha did our section openers this month. Cute, huh?
Marin picked up these yellow golf balls to prop the layout with in the
photo studio, and then we gave them to little Ryan when we were done.
He loves them!
pg.31 From issue to issue, I think this is my favorite column. Wendy finds such great stuff.
pg.34 For this column, I kept trying to work in a quote from Sleepless in Seattle, but it never quite worked. Anyone remember this one:
Annie: "...to see if we're M-F-E-O"
Becky: "M-F-E-O?"
Annie: "Made for each other."
Becky: "It's cute. It's like a little clue."
pg.39 I LOVE this feature. How cute are these little swatches? We used Heidi Grace decorative pins to tack them down.
pg.47 Awwww.
pg.56 This is, count it, the third time we've published the tiny
"Play" layout. Do you remember seeing a tiny picture of it in the last
issue? Apparently this one has been very inspiring to lots of
designers, including the original designer herself.
pg.57 Everything's funnier with fake mustaches.
pg.83 We were inspired by a layout Lisa Dickinson made for our Scrapbook Play special issue, so we asked her to make another layout for the magazine and write up instructions for creating a watermark.
pg.84 Introducing a brand new column! It's going to be a great one. Yay!
pg.116 This layout makes me laugh. I think we forget how awkward falling in love can be.
pg.130 Usually I could tell you whose foot that is, but it's
late and I can't remember. I wish it were my foot, but you can tell
it's not because my second toe is longer than my big toe. Although I
have done a bit of hand-modeling for the magazine, I'd never subject
you to my feet.
Until next time then.
